• Our approach

  Mount Lawley Counselling Centre uses a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to each client's needs. These include Gestalt therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, psychoanalytic and existential therapies, attachment theory, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Sessions are conducted in a respectful, supportive environment where clients are encouraged to explore their difficulties and develop greater awareness of their strengths and resources. The centre's team specialises in various areas including relationship issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, and family concerns. Therapists work with clients collaboratively to identify patterns, understand underlying dynamics, and build new coping strategies that serve as tools for facing ongoing life challenges.

• Meet the team

  The team at Mount Lawley Counselling Centre comprises 11 experienced professionals including clinical psychologists, accredited Gestalt therapists, and counselling psychologists. Members specialise in various areas: Julia Pemberton is a registered psychologist with over 20 years' experience in child and adolescent work; Samantha McLaughlin specialises in childhood attachments, postnatal depression, and adolescent counselling; and other team members bring expertise in couples therapy, sex therapy, trauma, and relationship counselling. All practitioners are highly qualified with formal training in psychotherapy and counselling, and many are accredited in their respective modalities. The centre has operated since 2001 and maintains professional memberships and ongoing supervision practices.
