Our approach
MC Occupational Therapy uses a client-centred approach that actively involves families and clients in assessment, problem-solving, and recommendations. Sessions are tailored to address each person's needs and goals holistically, considering how age, medical conditions, disabilities and other factors affect daily activities. The team uses evidence-based knowledge and applies recommendations to real-world situations, working collaboratively with clients and their support network to support independence and participation. The service focuses on creating empathetic and effective therapeutic relationships while generating practical, creative solutions that make life easier and more fulfilling.
Working with families
Family involvement is central to the service model. The team works collaboratively with clients and their support network throughout assessment, problem-solving and the development of recommendations. Communication and coordination are facilitated by the clinical coordinator, who acts as a linchpin between families, therapists and the administrative team to ensure seamless care. Families are supported and accommodated regarding changes needed to enhance their child's independence and participation in daily activities, with the service addressing needs realistically within funding body criteria and limitations.
