Our approach
Little Ones Speech Pathology uses an evidence-based approach designed to ease stress and find joy in the therapy experience. Sessions are tailored to each child's unique needs, temperament, and personal interests, with a strong focus on making learning fun while achieving meaningful progress. The therapist incorporates your child's natural motivation and interests into therapy to create engaging and effective results. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, therapy is thoughtfully aligned with your family's values and lifestyle. Sessions can take place in a familiar environment such as your home, daycare, or school, which helps children feel more comfortable and allows for a more realistic picture of their communication skills.
Working with families
The therapist prioritises close collaboration and communication with parents and carers as an integral part of therapy. Parent training and support are included as part of personalised therapy plans, ensuring families understand and can reinforce strategies at home. The therapist also collaborates with other professionals such as educators, teachers, and allied health providers as needed and with your permission. By limiting the number of families worked with each day, the therapist ensures focused, responsive care and the ability to truly connect with each family. This approach means parents are active partners in their child's communication journey rather than passive observers.
Meet the team
Little Ones Speech Pathology is led by Rachel Forster, the Director, Owner, and Principal Speech Pathologist. Rachel graduated from The University of Sydney with First-Class Honours in Speech Pathology and holds a Master of Speech Pathology Australia (MSPA) qualification. She is a registered Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist (CPSP) with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA), holding herself to the high standards of the profession. She is an approved Medicare Provider for eligible GP-referred plans and provides assistance to NDIS families. Rachel is also a mother of three, bringing both professional expertise and personal understanding to her work with children and families.
Your first visit
Your first step is a complimentary 15-minute phone or video consultation to discuss your situation, answer questions, and determine if the service is the right fit for your family. During this initial chat, you'll discuss your concerns as a parent, your child's background including their interests and personality, any previous therapy experiences, your preferred session location, and details about Medicare or NDIS plans if applicable. This conversation helps ensure you're comfortable with the therapist and their approach before committing to any sessions. It's an opportunity to explore how the service aligns with your family's needs and to clarify costs, availability, and the therapist's methods. Once you decide to proceed, a formal assessment can be scheduled, with pricing and timing agreed upon based on your child's age, temperament, and the complexity of areas to be assessed.
