Our approach
Sessions at Kita Therapy are designed to connect, equip, and empower children through evidence-based, playful, and engaging therapy. The therapists focus on building functional skills in meaningful everyday settings and provide continuous support to ensure goals are generalised across different environments. Each session is tailored to the child's individual needs, strengths, interests, and personality. The approach emphasises working with families and people around the individual as an essential part of therapy, providing practical strategies and tools to support progress outside the clinic.
Working with families
Family involvement is central to therapy at Kita Therapy, with regular communication and collaboration built into every step. Therapists conduct regular check-ins to review progress, celebrate achievements, and adjust goals as the child grows, with parents' insights and feedback integral to shaping the therapy journey. A key focus is empowering families with practical strategies, tools, and guidance to support generalisation of goals outside the clinic. Therapists also liaise with educators and other allied health professionals to provide coordinated, consistent care that involves everyone supporting the child.
Meet the team
The team comprises speech pathologists, occupational therapists, music therapists, and administrative support staff who work collaboratively across disciplines. All speech pathologists hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech Pathology and current Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status with Speech Pathology Australia. Occupational therapists are AHPRA-registered with bachelor's or master's qualifications. Music therapists hold current registration with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA). The team values collaboration, curiosity, and meaningful relationships, with mentorship and professional development opportunities available to all staff members.
Your first visit
The first appointment begins with a comprehensive initial assessment where therapists get to know you and your child through thorough formal or informal assessments and in-depth discussion. This helps them gain a deep understanding of your child's strengths, needs, interests, and personality. Before your first session, you can schedule a complimentary 10-minute introductory call to discuss your preferences and availability so therapists can match you with the best fit. Following the initial assessment, therapists will collaborate closely with you to set goals that are realistic and meaningful for your child.
