Our approach
Happy Dots uses a child-centred, sensory and play-based approach to therapy that is designed to be fun and engaging. Sessions focus on creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can explore and progress at their own pace, using evidence-based techniques and specialised equipment. Therapists address sensory processing difficulties, fine motor skills, emotional regulation, and overall development through a combination of therapeutic activities tailored to each child's needs. By incorporating everyday routines and working collaboratively with parents and caregivers, the clinic aims to foster independence, build confidence, and support children to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Working with families
Parent and carer involvement is central to Happy Dots' approach, with therapists working collaboratively with families to create personalised therapy plans that incorporate everyday routines and home environments. The clinic communicates with families throughout therapy, discussing the child's progress and sharing practical strategies that can be used at home. School-based therapy sessions also enable direct communication between therapists and teachers, allowing the school community and parents to collaborate on supporting the child's developmental and learning needs.
Your first visit
An initial assessment is scheduled for 90 minutes and includes a series of standardised and non-standardised tests chosen specifically for your child. During this appointment, the therapist will evaluate your child's strengths, weaknesses, and therapy goals to create a guided therapy plan. Following the assessment, individual therapy sessions of 45 minutes each may be recommended, or alternative options such as group therapy, school visits, or home-based services can be discussed. If you're unsure whether therapy is the right fit, a Meet and Greet Session is available for families who'd like to explore this before committing to a full assessment.
