About Functional Therapy Co
Functional Therapy Co is a boutique allied health provider established in 2022 that offers high-quality Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology services in the Perth metro area. They recognised burnout and lack of personalisation in the NDIS space and created a more flexible, inclusive and identity-centred approach to therapy, aiming to ensure each child receives quality care while promoting open communication and transparency.

Our approach
Using a neuroaffirming and inclusive approach, therapy sessions are designed to be fun and playful, focusing on helping your child achieve optimal functioning through participation in daily life activities. Occupational Therapists work with families to support motor skills, emotional regulation, and interoceptive awareness, while Speech Pathologists diagnose and treat communication and swallowing disorders. Sessions take place in environments where your child feels most comfortable—at home, school, in the community, or via telehealth—with therapists collaborating closely with families to build confidence, self-identity, and independence in everyday activities.
Working with families
The provider collaborates closely with families and their support networks to achieve meaningful outcomes, prioritising open communication and transparency in all interactions. Parents and carers are involved in therapy planning and progress, with the team committed to ensuring every family feels truly understood, valued, and empowered. For families across Australia unable to access local services, the provider offers telehealth support along with customised therapy plans that families can use between sessions. Contact is made through the admin team after referral processing to discuss your child's needs and arrange services that fit your family's circumstances.
Meet the team
The team includes four Occupational Therapists (Keren van Rooyen, Kelsey Anderson, Jess Grenfell, and Harleen Dhammu) and two Speech Pathologists (Emily Mitchell and Ivana Kovatchev), all described as highly skilled and experienced. An Allied Health Assistant (Niah Panton) delivers intervention programs under therapist supervision to provide higher intensity or frequency of support. The administration team, led by Alyssa Whitley, coordinates referrals and scheduling. All team members are dedicated to providing personalised, neuroaffirming therapy with a focus on building meaningful connections and ensuring families feel heard and understood.
