Our approach
Developing Minds Speech Pathology is built on the belief that connection is crucial—therapy should feel good and help children want to communicate because it matters to them, not because of rewards. Sessions focus on understanding each child's unique experience rather than just their behaviour, and balance meaningful challenges with a safe, supportive relationship so growth doesn't feel overwhelming. The approach is grounded in current research but adapted thoughtfully to fit each child's individual needs and goals. Internal motivation and feeling competent are prioritised over external rewards, as research shows constant pressure to perform "correct" behaviours actually gets in the way of real progress. The therapist works flexibly as a partner with families and other supporters in the child's life, bringing evidence-based practice to life in ways that make sense for your family.
