About Clinical Therapy
Clinical Therapy is a people-centred psychology practice in Kogarah founded in 2016. They offer collaborative, evidence-based therapy where treatment decisions are made with clients rather than for them. Their psychologists help clients understand their emotions and behaviours to develop strategies for managing them, operating in a warm, intimate practice where clients are treated as community members.

Our approach
The therapy approach is collaborative, meaning you and your psychologist decide on treatment together rather than having it decided for you. Your psychologist helps you understand what's happening in your life and reflects on why that may be, without judgment. They discuss practical, evidence-based therapy options with you and plan a strategy that suits your situation. Sessions take place in specially soundproofed consulting rooms designed to be calm and private spaces where you can talk openly. The practice values client collaboration and education at the heart of everything they do.
Meet the team
The team consists of five staff members: Elizabeth Talbot (Clinical Psychologist and Principal, B Psych (Hons), M Psych (Clin), MAPS), Klia Glezakis (Clinical Psychologist, B Psych (Hons), M Psych (Clin), MAPS), Phoebe Bowen (Registered Psychologist, B Psych (Hons), M Prof Psych), Carolin Hayes (Registered Psychologist, B Psych Sci (Hons), M Prof Psych), Kurt Hetherington (Provisional Psychologist, B Psych, Grad Dip Psych), and Purdy O'Connor (Receptionist/Administrator). The practice was founded in 2016 by Elizabeth Talbot with a vision of providing people-centred therapy embracing education and collaboration, and has grown into a team of likeminded, compassionate psychologists sharing these values.
Your first visit
At your first session, the goals are to help you feel comfortable and begin building a relationship with your psychologist, obtain a brief history and understanding of your issues, and give you an idea of how they can support you through therapy. Most necessary administration is covered in your online intake beforehand, so valuable session time isn't spent on paperwork. What's most important is that you feel comfortable, relaxed, and connected to your therapist, and that you understand the plan moving forward so you don't leave feeling unsupported.
