Our approach
The clinic tailors every therapy plan to each child's strengths and needs, with sessions typically held weekly or fortnightly in a fun and engaging format. Therapists use a range of resources based around the child's goals and preferences, and employ a whole family-centred approach that involves parents, caregivers and family members in play-based therapy. The clinic takes a neurodiversity-affirming stance, embracing each child's individuality and unique way of thinking and interacting, with therapy goals designed to support authentic engagement in meaningful activities rather than encouraging neurotypical behaviour. Goals also include strategies for parents, educators, siblings and peers to better understand and support the child's communication style. At the end of each session, home practice activities are provided to help consolidate progress between appointments. The clinic is a strong advocate of early intervention and works closely with other health professionals including paediatricians, occupational therapists, psychologists and physiotherapists.
