  • Meet the team

Burnside Speech Pathology is operated by two Certified Practicing Speech Pathologists: Chelsea Hayes and Sue Glover. Chelsea graduated from Flinders University in 2018 and joined the practice in 2019, bringing passion for working with young children with speech and language difficulties, literacy challenges and autism. Sue is a highly experienced clinician who previously worked as a Junior Primary Teacher and Special Education Teacher before becoming a speech pathologist, and has extensive experience with children and adolescents with various diagnoses including autism, speech and language disorders. Both clinicians are warm, caring and committed to evidence-based practice, regularly undertaking professional development and specialised training in areas such as phonics, social communication and orofacial myology. They work across clinic, school and preschool settings throughout Adelaide.

  • Your first visit

At an initial appointment, the clinician will conduct a comprehensive assessment appropriate to your child's needs, using a combination of standardised formal assessments and informal measures to evaluate their speech, language, literacy or social communication skills. The assessment process is designed to understand your child's strengths and areas for support. Following the assessment, a tailored therapy plan is developed in collaboration with the family to address individual goals and needs. This collaborative approach ensures the therapy plan aligns with your family's priorities and expectations, and the clinician will discuss findings and next steps with you at this appointment.
