Our approach
Psychologists at Aruna Psychology use a compassionate, client-centred approach grounded in evidence-based treatments to support your unique needs. Sessions focus on understanding your concerns and developing a personalised treatment plan in a safe and supportive environment. The team is trained in several evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, EMDR, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, often integrating techniques from multiple approaches. Many psychologists adopt a warm, collaborative, non-judgmental style that emphasises your wellbeing and empowers meaningful change. Standard consultations last 50 minutes, and both face-to-face and telehealth sessions are available.
Meet the team
The team comprises multiple clinical psychologists, general psychologists, and clinical neuropsychologists led by Dr Elise Sloan (Senior Clinical Psychologist and Director) and Dr Shayden Bryce (Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist and Director). Team members include Louise Tenaglia, Dr Shaun Pearl, Andy Symons, Dr Rosie Yates, Sophie Leitch, Dr Nicola Read, Dr Erin Kubilay, Adelaide McKenzie, and Maddison Jarratt, all clinical or general psychologists. The directors work concurrently in public mental health and conduct clinical research, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based treatment is at the core of the practice. Reception support is provided by Amanda, and Norbert serves as the practice therapy dog.
Your first visit
Your first appointment aims to understand your main concerns and treatment goals through questions about your current difficulties, the events leading to seeking support, and relevant background (mental health history, relationships, family, work). The psychologist will assess your unique situation to help develop a direction for treatment. You should only share information if you feel comfortable doing so. This initial session is focused on building understanding and establishing a foundation for your therapeutic journey together.
