Our approach
Sessions are tailored to individual needs using a play-based learning philosophy that emphasizes joy alongside progress. Allied Therapeutic Services offers flexible session formats, including one-on-one, family sessions, small groups, or multidisciplinary appointments, so families can choose what suits them best. Sessions typically run for 60 minutes (45 minutes of active therapy and 15 minutes of note-taking), with progress reviewed at the end of each appointment. The team creates a safe, stimulating environment designed to help children feel secure and inspired to grow through engaging, age-appropriate activities. Sessions can take place in-clinic, at home, school, or in community settings, or via telehealth—whatever works best for your family.
Working with families
The team actively involves parents and carers through a range of options tailored to your needs and preferences. You can choose family sessions where you participate alongside your child, attend parent/carer consultations to discuss strategies and progress, or receive support worker training if needed. After each assessment, you'll receive a comprehensive report and may be given homework or recommendations for strategies to use at home with your child. The therapist will work closely with you and your support network to ensure therapy extends beyond sessions and supports your child's growth in daily life at home, school, and in the community. Regular progress reviews at the end of each session keep you informed and allow the plan to be adjusted based on what's working best for your family.
Your first visit
Your first session includes a comprehensive assessment to understand your child's unique needs and goals. The therapist will gather information about your child and your family's priorities, then develop a personalized plan for ongoing support. You'll receive a detailed report after the assessment that outlines the session notes and any recommended homework or strategies to use at home. The team may also provide recommendations for further training or education tailored to you, your carers, or your child. Based on the assessment findings, they'll discuss whether your child needs weekly, fortnightly, or monthly sessions to best support their progress toward their goals.
