• Working with families

  The practice emphasises family-focused care and maintains communication with parents through their reception staff, who can answer many enquiries and take messages for the paediatrician. Parents are asked to bring relevant information to appointments and may request forms to be completed by the paediatrician (at the doctor's discretion). During the COVID-19 period, the practice limited appointments to one adult parent or carer per child to keep families safe, with exceptions for breastfeeding mothers and children with complex conditions. The practice is committed to protecting patient privacy in line with relevant Privacy and Health Records Acts.

• Meet the team

  The practice is staffed by paediatricians who are specialists with extensive training: each has completed a minimum of 5 years studying General Medicine at university, followed by 2 years as a junior medical officer in hospital, and at least 6 years in a Paediatric Training programme in a teaching hospital. All paediatricians are members of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. The team is involved in training and supervision of postgraduate doctors in paediatrics and has a direct relationship with the University of NSW for teaching medical students. Administrative and reception staff assist with enquiries and appointment management.

• Your first visit

  At your first appointment, you'll need to bring your original referral letter, any results from tests that have been performed, reports from other health or education professionals, a list of current medications, any court orders relating to care of your child, your Medicare card, and payment details. A referral from your GP will be required and is valid for 12 months; specialist referrals last three months. Consultation fees vary according to the type and length of appointment and are paid at the time of the visit, with Medicare rebates processed within three working days if you have a valid referral.
